Culture Is a National Asset Class

Countries that take culture seriously do not treat it as a ministry of ceremonies. They treat it as an asset class with returns in tourism, exports, employment and diplomatic leverage.

That reframing changes the questions. Not 'what event shall we host?' but 'what does this asset yield, who captures the yield, and what would increase it?'

For Nigeria the implication is concrete: invest in the connective tissue, including archives, venues, training, standards and market access, rather than only in the spectacle.

The spectacle is the visible tip. The asset is everything underneath it, and that is where patient institutional capital belongs.
